Washington Man Found Dead At Franklin County Jail

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said a Washington man died while incarcerated at the adult detention center on July 16.

James Flynn, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Evidence was found suggesting Flynn hanged himself.

Deputies said they initiated CPR until ambulance arrived.

Flynn was located in his cell and just returned a short time prior from visiting the detention nurse conducting an initial intake screening.

Flynn was being held for a parole violation and possession of a controlled substance warrant.

The Missouri State Division of Drug and Crime Control will conduct an investigation.

Dating back to last July, three people have died at the county jail.

Amanda Duncan, 37, was found dead in her cell on July 31, 2021. 

Angela Cholett was found dead in her cell Aug. 25, 2021.
