Suspect Arrested After Carjacking, Pursuit
A suspect was arrested early Thursday in Franklin County after a carjacking and pursuit ended with the vehicle striking a utility pole.
The suspect has been identified as a 46-year-old Dent County man. He had outstanding warrants.
The carjacking occurred at gunpoint in Washington around 6:25 a.m. in the 500 block of Second Street.
A pursuit was initiated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol towards New Haven around 6:55 a.m. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled.
A New Haven officer picked up the vehicle at Highway 100 and pursued it towards Berger.
Another New Haven officer responded and both officers pursued the vehicle to the area of Berger Road where it struck a utility pole.
A suspect exited the vehicle was found hiding a short distance away.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene.
A firearm was recovered.
