Sullivan Residents Ejected From Motorcycle After Striking Deer

Two Sullivan residents had injuries early Saturday after they were ejected from a motorcycle on Highway 185.

The driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer, but struck the animal and overturned.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 1:15 a.m. near Meramec State Park.

Jess M. Earney, 44, was operating a 2020 Harley Davidson. Earney swerved to avoid colliding with the deer, but was unable to do so and overturned. 

Heidi A. Earney, 40, was a passenger on the motorcycle. Both were ejected.

Jess Earney was not wearing a safety device. He had serious injuries. 

The highway patrol said Heidi Earney had moderate injuries and was wearing a safety device.

Both were taken to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.
