Sullivan Man Taken Into Custody After Standoff
A Sullivan man was arrested Jan. 18 after a standoff with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Andrew S. Glisson, born 1987, has been charged with three counts of second-degree kidnapping, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of armed criminal action, resisting arrest and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to the probable cause statement, Glisson was obstructing traffic on Highway A, which is in Washington County.
He is accused of flashing a handgun at passing cars and “yelling at them in an angry and threatening manner.”
When a sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene, Glisson was seen in the roadway with a child and his hand grasping a firearm.
He was told to drop his weapon, but he ran onto a nearby property.
Glisson ran away with the gun held by his side. He disappeared into the woods.
When the deputy returned, the child was gone.
A family member told the deputy the child was in a shed with two other children, along with Glisson.
The children wouldn’t leave the shed until a family member pulled them out.
Following a standoff, Glisson surrendered.
He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
