Sullivan Man Shoots Himself In Foot, Gets Charged
A Sullivan man who shot himself in the foot last month has been charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm.
The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office brought the charge against Damian Holbrook, born 1983, on Monday.
Holbrook is a convicted felon.
According to the probable cause statement, Holbrook accidentally shot himself in the foot on March 1. He sought treatment at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.
Holbrook told a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy that he picked up his late father-in-law’s shotgun after hearing a sound at the door.
The father-in-law left Holbrook with the shotgun.
According to the affidavit, Holbrook was convicted of receiving stolen property in California in December 2015.
A criminal summons was issued Monday.
