Sullivan Man Charged In Home Burglary, Car Theft

A Sullivan man has been charged with the home burglary and theft of a victim's car in March 2023.

Charges were filed Aug. 22 against the man, who faces counts for second-degree burglary, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing a firearm and theft of more than $750.

The man is accused of breaking into the victim's home while they were away and stealing several items, including a car.

The car was found on fire near Watson Road and Cash Street.

The robber cut the electric, cable and phone lines to the home.

Police used local surveillance video to identify the man. Some of the items were recovered at the thief's home, while others were recovered in St. Charles.
