Sullivan Man Arrested After Standoff Last Month Back In Custody

A Sullivan man who was arrested in January after a standoff with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is back in custody.

Andrew S. Glisson, 36, was charged in Crawford County for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Cuba Police on Feb. 15 arrested Glisson, who is being held at the Crawford County Jail.

According to the probable cause statement, police made contact with Glisson after watching him exit what turned out to be a stolen car.

The back window was broken out and hand tools were scattered across the back seat.

Police observed Glisson go into Solo Smokes and Spirits and a witness saw him run across the street to TA Truck Stop.

Employees said they saw Glisson head towards the restaurant, then leave through the south side exit.

Police canvassed the area and later found Glisson, who had turned his hooded sweatshirt inside out. Video footage from a local business showed Glisson placing a bag of suspected drugs behind an air conditioning unit.

Glisson told police he was in Cuba to scrap copper wires and that he did not know the vehicle he was driving was stolen.

Glisson was arrested in Washington County on Jan. 18. He posted bond Feb. 5.

He is charged in that venue with three counts each of second-degree kidnapping, armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child, one count of resisting arrest and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

Glisson allegedly obstructed traffic on Highway A, flashing a handgun at passing cars and yelling at them in an angry and threatening manner.

A sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene to find Glisson in the roadway with a child and his hand on a firearm.

The deputy ordered Glisson to drop the weapon, but he ran onto a nearby property.

A family member told deputies Glisson was located in a shed with two other children, who wouldn’t leave until another family member pulled them out.
