Sullivan Construction Topped $20 Million In 2023

Total construction in the city of Sullivan was more than $20 million in 2023, an increase of more than $4.7 million from 2022.

Don Randolph, Sullivan’s building inspector, announced reported the totals to the city council Jan. 16.

The cost for all permits issued was $20,414,104 up $4,757,349 from 2022. 

The city issued 237 permits in 2023 compared to 217 permits in 2022. 

The city issued 25 permits for single-family homes in 2023, an increase of 16 from the previous year. There were six multi-family permits issued in 2023, at a cost of $3,123,795. In 2022, there were seven permits issued at an estimated cost of $2,575,000. 

There were 22 residential additions and renovations permits issued in 2023 that came to a total of $410,939. 

All other residential (HVAC replacement, electrical, plumbing, electric service upgrades, decks, accessory buildings, and swimming pools, etc.) permits issued totaled $910,239. 

The total construction cost for all residential permits in 2023 was $1,321,178. The total residential construction cost in 2022 was $1,128,273. 

Of the 237 permits issued in 2023, 52 of them were for commercial and industrial projects, compared to 67 for the year 2022. 

Some of the major projects that were permitted (and their construction cost) are as follows: 

a renovation and addition to Missouri Baptist Hospital ($2,697,269), Aerofil ($1,893,084), Sullivan School District renovations ($690,000), new Club Car Wash ($2,648,605), a new Pit Stop Liquor ($419,733). 

The total construction cost for commercial and industrial permits for the year 2023 was $10,009,267 compared to $7,495,126 for the year 2022.
