Staffing Shortage Reported For Closure Of Sullivan MSHP Exam Station

According to the City of Sullivan, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Drivers Examination tests in Sullivan are coming to an end at this time.

The tests are given the second and fourth Tuesdays in Sullivan at the Sullivan Skating Rink Annex Building but that is coming to an end soon.

While Sullivan Independent News has received no official word from the MSHP on the closure, City Administrator J.T. Hardy reported to Sullivan City Council, Tuesday, December 20, during their regular meeting, that the exam office is no longer going to need to use the annex building in 2023.

Hardy spoke with the Sullivan Independent News Monday, December 26, and was asked why they decided to close the exam office in Sullivan twice a month.

“We were informed through Parks Director Dave Wall that due to staffing shortages they would not be offering the exam in Sullivan the second and fourth Tuesday and no longer required the use our Skating Rink Annex,” said Hardy. “From what we understand it is a staffing issue.”

The Sullivan Independent News could find no statements officially from the Missouri State Highway Patrol at press time.

The St. Clair and Washington drivers examination stations will remain open, according to sources.

St. Louis Television Station, KMOV, reported on December 19, the MSHP was having staffing issues in the drivers examination stations in Jennings and St. Charles would be closed until further notice.

The Sullivan Independent News will have additional details on the closure in Sullivan as soon as they become available.
