St. Clair Man Accused Of Stealing Two Cars

A St. Clair man was arrested April 25 after he allegedly stole vehicles from Union and Pacific on back-to-back days.

Xavier L. Brown, born 1998, has been charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and one count of stealing $750 or more.

Brown is on probation for damage to jail property. He is a multi-state offender, with a criminal history in Missouri and Florida.

The probable cause statement says Brown was previously arrested in Florida for motor vehicle theft.

Union Police officers responded to the city park on April 24 for a report of a stolen Ford Focus.

The victim said Brown was an acquaintance.

Later that afternoon, the vehicle was wrecked in Manchester, but Brown was not found.

The next morning, Franklin County sheriff’s deputies responded to Sam’s Market in Pacific for a Honda Accord with an affixed bike to the roof that had been stolen.

Surveillance from the business showed that Brown was the likely suspect.

Deputies located the vehicle in Union about an hour later, with Brown inside.

He allegedly admitted to stealing both vehicles.
