Public Hearing And Two Requests Before Council Tuesday

The Sullivan City Council was scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 7, with a public hearing on a dangerous at 678 Watson Rd., requests and petitions from Sullivan chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Partnership along with a review of bids on the North Olive Water Main Project.

Sullivan Building Inspector Dave Dawson was scheduled to present evidence at a 7 p.m. Public Hearing on a dangerous building at 678 Watson Rd., owned allegedly by Mary Koppelmann.

The council will hear reasons why the building has been deemed dangerous and that no action has been taken to resolve the issues. The city is looking to have the structure razed due to its ongoing condition.

The council will then move to their regular meeting where Sullivan Chamber of Commerce will seek street closures on Friday, October 29, to hold its annual Halloween Spooktacular from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The annual event attracts children of all ages to area businesses participating in the Halloween Spooktacular.

The Downtown Business Partnership will seek to hold its newly formed Flea Market and Food Booths on Saturday, September 18, Saturday, October 16, and Saturday, November 13, with times set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The DBP has saw tremendous success at their first two events and look to building on that going into the fall season.

Sullivan City Administrator J.T. Hardy was scheduled to present a review of the bids for the North Olive Water Main project with three bids being received.

The bids included: Core and Main, St. Louis, $19,282.77, Harry Cooper Supply Co., Springfield, $19,702.53 and IMCO Utility Supply, St. Louis, $22,301.15.

City staff is recommending the council award the bid to Core and Main in the amount of $19,282.77.

The council did have closed session posted for real estate, litigation and personnel.
