Municipal Election Set For Tuesday

Voters will go to the polls locally for the first time since the November 2020 general election with few races locally including Aldermen Ward Three in the City of Sullivan, Trustee Race in Village of St. Cloud, School Board races in Sullivan and Spring Bluff School Districts and a couple of issues before Spring Bluff School District voters and Crawford County residents.

In the City of Sullivan, residents in Ward Three will see incumbent Paul McCulloch seek to retain his office against retired Sullivan Police Chief George R. Counts.

Residents in Sullivan living within Crawford County as well as Crawford County overall will decide whether to roll back their county personal property tax and real estate taxes to the county effective January 1, 2024 by being in favor of maintaining the half-cent sales tax already in place.

If approved the issue would not raise taxes for residents.

The Village of St. Cloud will select two candidates to serve on the Board of Trustees for a two year term. Four candidates are seeking the two open positions: Sean Flowers, Darrel Bosse, Cliff Thexton and Jordan Thexton.

Sullivan School District will elect two candidates to serve three-year terms on the Board of Education with incumbents Robbie Berti and Randy Stack seeking re-election and James “Jim” Bartle challenging for a position on the board.

Spring Bluff School District has five candidates seeking two three-year term positions on the Board of Education. Those seeking office include: Maggie Jo Reinhold, Jordan Christopher Tod, James Robert Goodman, Jacob Lambert and Kurtis Reed.

The Spring Bluff School will also ask voters to increase the operating levy by $0.2500 to $3.3018 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purpose of meeting additional operating needs of the school district.

If approved that adjusted operating tax levy of the district is estimated to increase by $0.2500 from $3.0518 currently to $3.3018 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
