MSHP Investigators Assist In Betty Alexander Missing Case

Sullivan Police welcomed assistance from  Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators with the case of missing Sullivan resident Betty Alexander, 73.

Alexander vanished from her home at Center St. Apartments. Daughter Tonya Tolliver noticed she was missing.

“We received communications from the MSHP offering to send investigators down to work with us and go over the missing case of Betty Alexander,” said Sullivan Police Chief Patrick Johnson. “The MSHP arrived Monday morning and began assisting in the case, canvassing the area around Alexander’s apartment on Center St. and going over all of our case information from beginning to where we are at now.”

Alexander was reported missing by Tolliver on Sunday, April 14, 2019, after she went by her mother’s apartment and found her door locked.

Tolliver unlocked the door but could not find her mother but did observe that her, “Meals on Wheels,” had been delivered and sitting on the table along with her milk.

Her glasses were lying on her recliner while her purse was left inside a closet containing her wallet, medications and state identification.

Tolliver quickly contacted Sullivan Police, who then requested assistance from Sullivan Fire. Firefighters began a search of the area for Alexander that late afternoon/evening.

The search intensified in the days following, with K-9 support being brought in, along with search teams and other law enforcement agencies.

Days turned into weeks, into months and now into years with no sign of what happened to Alexander.

A reward of $20,000 was offered and yet no further leads in the case to this point.

Sullivan Police Detective Ralph Finn has worked the case going through more than 50 leads all of which have not brought any conclusion at this point.

Johnson reported at the end of the day Monday, that no new information on the case had been gathered at press time.

Anyone with information on what may have happened to Alexander or remember anything suspicious or out of the ordinary in and around April 14, 2019 is asked to contact Sullivan Police at 573-468-8001 or contact the anonymous tip line ay 573-860-5637.
