Man Mistakenly Released From County Jail Involved In Domestic Dispute, Allegedly Stole Vehicle

A Bourbon man who was mistakenly released from the Crawford County Jail on Jan. 13 and captured one day later was being held on domestic assault and vehicle tampering charges.

Benjamin Landa, 30, was arrested Jan. 10 by Crawford County deputies.

According to the probable cause statement, Landa allegedly assaulted a family member and left the home on a bicycle.

Two other family members found Landa and allegedly got into a physical altercation. 

Landa allegedly broke the window to a truck and got into the driver’s seat.

He fled the scene, but was apprehended walking north on Highway N, just outside the Bourbon city limits a couple hours later.

Landa allegedly admitted to the assault and vehicle theft.

Charges have not been filed against Landa for leaving the jail.
