Jefferson City Man Arrested In Crawford County Standoff

A Jefferson City man was arrested Tuesday in a standoff that lasted approximately five hours at a Steelville residence on Valleyside Road.

According to Sheriff Darin Layman, charges are pending against the 37-year-old man.

Deputies were dispatched around 7:35 a.m. for a domestic disturbance.

The suspect fired a shot through a window in the direction of the deputy.

Several law enforcement agencies responded to establish a perimeter.

Several attempts were made to negotiate with the suspect.

The Franklin County SWAT team was called in to assist.

After roughly five hours, the suspect exited without incident.

He was taken to the Crawford County Jail. 

No injuries were sustained.

A small firearm was located, seized and taken as evidence.
