Hernandez Pleads Guilty To Role In Capitol Riot

A Sullivan woman pleaded guilty on Monday to her role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol.

Emily Hernandez, 22, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of entering and remaining into a restricted building. 

According to federal documents, she faced the following charges:

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds
  • Disorderly conduct which impedes the conduct of government business
  • Steal, sell, convey or dispose of any thing of value of the United States
  • Disruptive conduct in the Capitol buildings
  • Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol buildings

Hernandez was arrested last week for driving while intoxicated, which resulted in her killing a St. Clair woman in a wrong way crash.

Charges had not been filed as of Monday.

Hernandez will be sentenced in March.
