Deputies Arrest Washington Man Spraypainting Stolen Truck
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrested a Washington man who was allegedly caught spraypainting a stolen vehicle in his driveway.
Tyler Loyd, 33, has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle.
Loyd is on parole for felony theft and stealing.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said detectives with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Loyd t in the 700 block of Clover Court in Washington.
Detectives wished to speak with him about several motor vehicle theft reports in the area. Upon approaching Loyd, detectives observed him actively spray painting a Chevy Silverado in his driveway.
During the conversation, detectives ran a computer check of the vehicle's identification number and it showed the vehicle had been recently stolen from the Bieker Road area, outside of Washington.
Loyd was taken into custody and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the suspect's Missouri ID in the center console and burglary tools spread throughout the interior of the truck. A glass pipe, commonly associated with methamphetamine use, was also located on the suspect's person.
