Deputies Allegedly Find Fentanyl Inside Woman's Body Cavity During Jail Booking

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found fentanyl as they were booking a Robertsville woman at the adult detention center on Dec. 9.

Sheila Leija, 44, was arrested around 5 p.m. on warrants for speeding, driving without a valid license and 24-hour hold for trespassing and resisting arrest.

As she entered the county jail, Leija was scanned for contraband.

A deputy located an “anomaly” inside a body cavity.

Leija was taken to a private room and the contraband was removed from inside her body.

The substance was determined to be fentanyl.

Leija has been charged with possession of a controlled substance in a county jail.
