Cuba Man Flown To Hospital After Vehicle Catches Fire

A Cuba man was flown to a St. Louis hospital Sunday after a crash on Interstate 44 caused his vehicle to go up in flames.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at the 217 mile marker around 9:10 a.m.

A 2006 Dodge Ram, driven by Gersen A. Gomez, 32, Little Rock, Ark., struck a 2018 Honda Hatchback in the rear, driven by Alexander Lantos, 83, Cuba.

Both vehicles went off the right side of the road, overturned and caught fire.

Lantos was flown to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur with serious injuries.

Gomez left the scene before emergency personnel arrived.
