Community Outreach Special Delivery Helping Seniors Avoid Contact

A group of community leaders calling themselves, Community Outreach Special Delivery, is entering their third week of reaching out to Sullivan senior citizens and those most at risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus, by helping them through shopping and other delivery needs.

The group has been working with Frick’s Market to complete the seniors orders and then delivers the orders to seniors.

The locally-owned grocery store is taking 10 percent off these orders as their way to help the group.

The program works simply as the senior that needs services and cannot get out of their home, due to the COVID-19 virus, can call 573-468-4719. Volunteers will answer the line and then have a volunteer go out and complete the shopping and then drop the items off at the residents home.

The transactions are completed through the seniors credit card/debit card or cash specific payment to the store in which the purchase is being made.

The group is still seeking volunteer assistance in the program with volunteers who can provide shopping services and delivery during the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

The interested can also call the volunteer line at 573-468-4719.
