Chamber Contract, Two Ordinances Before New Council

The Sullivan City Council was scheduled to meet Tuesday night, April 19, to review any old business before the current Board of Aldermen before the new board was scheduled to be sworn into office following the approval of the April 5, 2022 election.

Payment of the monthly bills totaling $1,262,175.21 was presented to the outgoing board and included $528,808.87 for MPUA Power for March use, $18,999.78 to Oak Grove Village for their share of Wal-Mart Sales Tax and $47,131.10 to UMB Bank, payment 169 on the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The council was then scheduled to approve the election results with Alderman Mark Dalton, Ward One, Alderman Chris Bunk, Alderman Ward One-one year unexpired term, Alderman Jason Alexander, Ward Two and Alderman George R. Counts, Ward Three Alderman sworn into office by City Clerk Jan Koch.

The council was scheduled to review the minutes from Planning and Zoning which approved three requests before them to be sent to Board of Aldermen that included a 37 lot multi-community development by Lance Wiese off North and South Rd. that drew some concerns from nearby residents on North and South Rd. and Vernon Rd., regarding traffic on North and South Rd., a request from Kenny Wilson for the partial vacation of the existing park and trail easement east of Cripple Creek Subdivision along the west of Winsel Creek and an annexation request by HDRE Homes L.L.C. to annex Lot One of Arthur T. Gross Subdivision.

City Administrator J.T. Hardy was scheduled to present to the council the annual Marketing Contract for the city with the Sullivan Chamber of Commerce in the amount of $6,000.

Two proposed ordinances were to be before the council, both approved by Planning and Zoning that include:

Ord. 3950, which would approve the annexation of property at 1794 Elmont Rd. and owned by Hayden and Danica Lock;

Ord. 3951, would reduce the existing Park and Trail Easement by vacating a portion west of the trail. The property is owned by Kenny Wilson and is located off North and South Rd.

The council did have closed session posted for real estate, litigation and personnel.
