Blood Drive To Be Held Monday At Community Center

The American Red Cross with hold a blood drive at the Sullivan Community Center from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 9, which is sponsored by Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital Auxiliary.

The goal for this December Blood Drive is 60 units and each presenting donor will receive a poinsettia.

According to the Red Cross donors may donate blood every 56 days and up to 6 times a year; platelets up to 24 times per year; plasma every 28 days, up to 13 times per year and double red cells every 112 days, up to three times a year.

To donate blood, donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 for whole blood with a signed Red Cross parental consent form where state permits); weight at least 110 pounds, high school students and other donors 18 years old or younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements and be in good health.

Those planing to donate are asked to get a good nights sleep, drink plenty of fluids and eat within two to three hours before donating.
