Audit Reports City Doing Quite Well Tuesday Night

The Sullivan City Council received a very clean audit for Fiscal Year 2021, in fact the audit, performed by Fick, Eggemeyer & Williamson, CPA’s, St. Louis, found the city doing quite well with their operations.

CPA Keith Slusser reported to the council that they did not find or identify any deficiencies in internal control over compliance that would be considered material weakness.

Mayor Dennis Watz asked Klusser how the city of Sullivan compares to other city audits?

Klusser stated that their firm performs hundreds of audits per year and the City of Sullivan was doing quite well.

Following the audit report, Alderman Jason Alexander made a motion to approve the audit as presented, which was seconded by Alderman Dr. Mark Dalton and approved unanimously.

In other council news, City Administrator J.T. Hardy reminded the council of the public hearing set for Tuesday, January 11, at 6 p.m.

The hearing was to take place at Sullivan Community Center, 730 West Main St., to discuss proposed submission of an application for the fiscal year 2021 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The program requires citizen input as part of the Needs Assessment document.

Under Aldermen Input, the Board of Aldermen each expressed their appreciation to city staff for the contributions made for the city to receive a good audit.

Under Mayor Input, Mayor Watz thanked city crews for their hard work in decorating the town for Christmas.
