Months Later, Stop Work Order On Bourbon Factory Remains Unresolved

It’s been more than two months since the Bourbon Fire Protection District placed a stop work order on the former Proctor building old Old Highway 66.

Bourbon Fire Marshal Corey Rice said there is no update and Sky Huddleston — owner of Liberator Rocket Heaters — could not be reached for comment.

Huddleston told the Independent News in December that he would not be discussing anything related to the order until January.

Huddleston reached out to the Independent News in early December after declaring information that Rice offered in a Nov. 24 article was incorrect.

Rice, who was set to resign from his position as fire marshal on Dec. 31, has withdrawn that resignation.

The issue over the stop work order has prompted litigation, which Rice said he is not able to talk about.

He did point the Independent News to a protection order that was filed against him late last year.

The petitioner’s name is unavailable through online court records, but it appears to relate to Rice’s stop work order.
