Mayor Reaching Out To Simmerly For EMD, County Looking To Hire

Mayor Dave Lafferty said April 18 he would reach out to Dan Simmerly, the newly-elected member of the Bourbon Fire Protection District for its Emergency Management Director position, while the Crawford County Commission is opening the hiring process.
The city lacks an EMD, which could leave them vulnerable in the event of a disaster. An EMD is necessary if Bourbon wants to apply for disaster funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
District 2 Commissioner Jared Boast is currently Crawford County’s interim EMD. Lesa Mizell was the previous EMD.
