Crawford County Sales Tax Soars 26 Percent

Crawford County’s general revenue sales tax soared 26 percent for February, a record-setting month. 

The tax generated $214,682.93, which was up from $169,567.73 for February 2022. It was the biggest total the county has received for that month.

Two years ago, the county generated $151,615.44. 

In 2020, which was two months prior to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was $115,648.04.

Through the first two months of 2023, the county has totaled $440,971.13.

For January, the county received $226,288.20, which was up 3 percent from the year before.

Crawford County is coming off another record-breaking year of general revenue sales tax. In 2022, the county had $2,675,538.07.

In 2021, the county totaled more than $2.5 million.

For 2020, it was $2.4 million.

2019 was the first full year of the sales tax increase, which was made permanent by voters in 2022. The county generated $2.1 million in general revenue.

The capital improvement and law enforcement sales taxes are separate and at a lower rate than the general revenue.

Like the general revenue, both funds were up 26 percent for February.

Each tax generated $101,971.09 for the month.

The funds were up 2 percent year-over-year for January.

Each fund has collected nearly $210,000 so far this year.

In 2022, the funds generated more than $1.2 million in revenue.
