Crawford County Ends ’23 Down Slightly On Sales Tax

Crawford County ended 2023 slightly down on general revenue sales tax.

The final report for the year showed the tax down .09 percent year-over-year.

Crawford County brought in $225,365.46 for November, down from $225,569.59 from last November. 

The county ended 2023 by collecting $2,608,161.67 in general revenue sales tax.

In 2022, the county collected $2,675,538.07.

The difference is around $67,000.

Crawford County’s general revenue is up from more than $2.4 million in 2020 and $2.5 million in 2021.

The county saw general revenue climb at the beginning of the year, then fall at the beginning.

General revenue was up 3 percent for December 2022 (money is put towards the next year’s budget) and 26 percent for January.

It was up another 19 percent for February and 4 percent for March.

For April, it crashed 33 percent and was essentially stagnant at 0.6 percent for May.

For the next four months, revenue was down year-over-year.

It was down 17 percent for June, 11 percent for July, 10 percent for August and 6 percent for September.

There was a 9 percent rebound for October.

The law enforcement and capital improvement sales taxes are separate.

Both were down around 1.2 percent for November.

The county collected $108,576.17, down from $109,957.04 last year.

The county finished the year by collecting $1,243,467.41.

In 2022, the funds generated $1,286,086.49.
