CCR-1 School District Receives MAP/EOC Data

The Crawford County R-1 School District provided its 2023 Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) and end-of-course (EOC) scores during the Sept. 21 board meeting.

Students in third through eighth grade take MAP assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics each year.

Students in fifth and eighth grade are assessed in science.

Student performance is reported in terms of Below Basic, Basic, Proficient and Advanced.

Those scoring at proficient and advanced are considered to have mastered the skills and processes in the Missouri Learning Standards.

Superintendent Cole Byassee told the board he believes the district is heading in the right direction.

“We have some holes and gaps to fill, but I’m encouraged by what we have coming to the high school,” Byassee said.

BES

The elementary school saw third and fourth graders have a lower rate of students scoring Below Basic than the state average.

In areas for improvement, the district must have “effective instructional strategies and data driven decision making” to increase ELA and math scores above the state average.

In 2023, 30.7 percent of third graders at BES scored proficient and advanced in ELA.

The state average was 42 percent.

More than 44 percent of sixth graders were proficient and advanced in ELA and 47 percent in math.

Nearly 80 percent of seventh graders were proficient and advanced in ELA, which was more than double the state average.

No students were Below Basic.
