Bourbon Council Approves $2.2 Million Budget
The city of Bourbon on June 29 passed a $2.2 million budget for fiscal year 2023-24.
Of that total, more than $320,000 is allocated to American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.
The remaining is the city’s $1.9 million for operations.
Last year’s budget came in at $2.4 million, but was made up of ARPA funding and the final reimbursement for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
Bourbon’s FY 2023-24 budget includes:
$360,809 for city hall;
$10,00 for the municipal court;
$585,315 for the police department;
$185,615 for the street department;
$43,331 for the park department;
$304,000 for the water department; and,
$453,965 for the sewer department.
The budget slightly increased across the board, though last year’s sewer budget was $722,805. That accounted for improvements in the wastewater treatment plant.
For the police department, the board budgeted $159,090 for rehabilitating the building on Pine Street.
A $24,000 loan payment for the building also was budgeted.
The board budgeted $72,000 for health insurance at the police department, up from $45,000 last year.
The street department is up just $3,000 from last year’s budget.
The park department saw its budget rise by around $5,000, with around $3,000 going towards capital expenditures.
The water department increased from $285,760. Sales are projected to hit $214,000. The city is projecting a year-end total of $213,725 from last year.
