BHS Removes ISS, Adds Monday School
The Crawford County R-1 School Board voted Tuesday on an addendum to the handbook that removes in-school suspension at the high school (academic reassignment) for Monday school.
When school goes back in session next month, all infractions listed as academic reassignment will be commuted to one day of Monday school, per a proposal.
The district does not have school on Mondays. Per the proposal, removing ISS from the discipline matrix allows building staff “to be better utilized in other capacities.”
Monday school will be half intervention and half community service.
Students will spend the morning completing work for their assigned classes and their afternoon completing assigned duties such as cleaning windows, vacuuming carpets, picking up trash, etc.
Students who do not report for Monday school will receive out-of-school suspension (OSS) the two days following the assigned Monday.
