State Historical Society of Missouri Closed March 17-31 Due to Safety Concerns of COVID-19 Pandemic

The State Historical Society of Missouri and all SHSMO research centers in Cape Girardeau, Kansas City, Rolla, Saint Louis, and Springfield, including the Center for Missouri Studies in Columbia will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17 through March 31, 2020, due to concerns for public and staff safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. SHSMO will decide by the end of the month if the closing will need to be extended past March 31. Updates will be posted on our website. We encourage our patrons to use our digital resource online. The Center for Missouri Studies is the State Historical Society’s vehicle for carrying out its mission to promote and disseminate study and teaching of the state’s past. Founded in 1898, the Society collects, preserves, publishes, and makes available material related to all aspects and periods of Missouri history. SHSMO also provides educational programs on the cultural heritage of the state through its research centers in Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla, St. Louis, and Springfield.
