Two Charged With Child Abuse

Two people have been charged with child abuse/neglect of a child after a juvenile was reportedly assaulted.

Roger Rice and Kristen Roach each face charges in the incident, which allegedly left the victim with a black eye.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim messaged a friend that Rice hit her in the face and Roach, his girlfriend, had attempted to choke her.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.

When a deputy did a well-being check on the victim Nov. 26, the victim had a blackened, bruised eye.

On Nov. 27, the victim said Rice hit her and she didn’t feel safe under his supervision.

Roach told a Department of Family Service officer that Rice became irate and backhanded the victim.

Roach said Rice has had anger issues.

Another juvenile who was a witness said Roach became upset at the victim. She reached across the table and grabbed her by the neck.

Rice allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair, pulled her head back and shoved her phone into her face.
