School District Lowers 2021 Tax Rate

The Crawford County R-1 School Board set the 2021 tax levy at $3.9162 per $100 of assessed valuation, lowering it from 2020.

Board members set the rate during the Aug. 26 meeting.

A public hearing was held prior to the meeting.

The 2020 tax rate was $3.9925.

In 2019, the rate was $3.991.

Bourbon has not had a tax rate above $4 since 2016-17. The following year it was rolled back to $3.9827.

Included in Bourbon’s 2021 tax rate is $2.9812 for the incidental fund, down from $3.0575 in 2020.

The debt service levy held at 93.5 cents.

Bourbon has kept the rate at the same level in exchange for voters approving bond issues.

The district’s last bond issue came in June 2020, which was overwhelmingly approved.
