School Board Awards Bids For HVAC Units

The Crawford County R-1 School Board on Thursday awarded a bid for five HVAC units to Hartley’s Climate Control, LLC.

The district will pay $29,607.00.

Superintendent Cole Byassee said the bid from Hartley’s included two free units.

Juergens Heating & Cooling and Level 9 Heating and Cooling also made bids.

Juergens had the lowest bid at $28,129.50, but Byassee said Hartley’s bid made the price per unit cheaper.

Level 9 came in at a range of $29,465 to $34,083.

Hartley’s bid includes the labor to remove three of the 24-year-old packaged rooftop HVAC systems.

They will be replaced with new high-efficiency systems.

Hartley also will adapt and modify as needed to the existing infrastructure.

The systems will be placed on the roof at the middle school covering the seventh and eighth grade classes.

Maintenance Supervisor Doug King said that this project will “get (the district) in a good sport for the next 10 years.”

Byassee said they are working on a long-term plan to replace HVAC units in systems rather than replacing them all at one time.
