Return Of Fall Festival, Car Show Brings Out Big Crowds

There was no autumn chill to be found anywhere, but summer’s last weekend provided plenty of sunshine for the return of the Fall Festival and car show on Friday and Saturday.

Held by the Bourbon Boosters and the Bourbon Economic Development Group, respectively, the two events returned for the first time since 2019.

Big crowds were on hand for Friday’s Fall Festival, a night that celebrated Missouri’s 200th birthday, crowned a new Junior Miss and saw the stage at Festival Park dedicated to the late Danny Skaggs.

And people flocked to the community center for fish sandwiches.

Chloe Courtoise was named the new Junior Miss Bourbon.

Courtouise is a seventh grade student at Bourbon Middle School.

Brooklyn Bouse was retired as Junior Miss Bourbon after a two-year reign.

Emcee Mike Delashmit joked that Bouse was the longest-reigning Junior Miss Bourbon.

Riley Brand was first runner-up and Raylee Bartle second runner-up.

Prior to the crowning, the stage was dedicated to Skaggs, who died Sept. 12, 2019.

Skaggs served more than four years as mayor. He was appointed April 21, 2015 and served until his untimely death.

Delashmit said that Skaggs was instrumental in the improvements at the city’s basketball courts, the wastewater treatment plant and Pine Street.

Skaggs helped initiate the grant that saw the city receive $500,000 to overhaul the infrastructure there.
