Crawford County Sales Tax Up 6% For August
The Crawford County general revenue sales tax collection for August was up 6% year-over-year.
Collection was up year-over-year for the third straight month.
The county received $304,109.07. It’s the second time the county has surpassed $300,000 in collections since the sales tax increase went into effect in October 2018. The only other month was August 2019.
Last year, the county took in $286,311.66.
So far in 2022, Crawford County has brought in more than $2 million. With three months left, the county is on track to surpass the record-breaking $2.5 million that came in last year.
Through September 2021, the county had collected $1.8 million.
Revenue was down year-over-year in four months at that point.
In 2022, revenue hasn’t dipped since June and before that, February.
After falling 5% in May, it was up 3% in June and nearly 7% in Jult.
The county collected more than $197,000 in June and $270,000 in July.

The law enforcement and capital improvement taxes are separate.
Each revenue collection was up 10% year-over-year for August. The county received $147,199.49. Last year, the county brought in $133,335.37.
Revenue was up 3% for June and 15% for July.
Through 2022, the collection stands at $971,395.17 for both funds.

State Budget Director Dan Haug announced that net general revenue collections grew 4.7% compared to those for August 2021, from $962.2 million last year to $1.01 billion this year.
Net general revenue collections for 2023 fiscal year-to-date increased 18.9 percent compared to August 2021, from $1.66 billion last year to $1.98 billion this year.
