Crawford County Reports 2 New Cases

Crawford County is reporting its lowest number of COVID-19 cases since last spring.

Just two new cases were detected for the week ending June 9.

One new case was found June 4 and another June 9.

Data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services show that 279 PCR and 100 antigen tests were conducted during that timeframe.

The total now stands at 2,318, with 318 probable antigen cases and 39 confirmed deaths.

Crawford County’s positivity rate of 0.5% ranks 105th in the state even as the state ranks 10th in per capita testing and 31st in volume.

Some counties south of Crawford reported zero cases for the week ending June 9.

Low-density counties like Shannon, Reynolds, Carter and Bollinger did not detect any cases.

The decreasing amount of cases locally is not being seen across the state as a whole.

Missouri reported 2,170 cases for the week ending June 9, a daily average of 310.

That is up from 238 daily average cases for the week ending June 2.

Missouri has totaled 515,563 cases, 90,006 probable cases and confirmed 9,196 deaths.

The seven-day positivity rate was 5.1%, up from 4.6% the previous week.

Missouri’s number of new cases is 44th highest in the United States.

The state increased testing by 10.8%.

Six new deaths were confirmed.

Vaccine

Missouri saw a rapid increase in the number of people who have initiated the vaccine.

Among the entire population, 42.8% have now initiated the vaccine, up from 35.5% the previous week.

DHSS says 36.2% have completed the regimen, which is up from 29.9% the previous week.

Among those 18 and older, 53.1% have initiated the vaccine and 45.5% have completed it.

Boone County continues to rank highest among most vaccinated counties at 49.1%.

Franklin County is fifth at 41.5%.

Crawford County is at 23.2%.

Hospitalizations

Missouri reported an increase in hospitalizations, from 722 to 729.

ICU patients increased from 156 to 170.

In the St. Louis area, hospitalizations dropped from 329 to 279.

The number of ICU patients dropped from 68 to 58.
