Couple Arrested After Allegedly Attacking Police Officer At Tavern

A husband and wife were arrested Feb. 12 after they allegedly attacked a police officer at the Town Tavern in Bourbon.

The pair’s names have not been released as charges have yet to be filed.

According to a police report, the incident occurred around 11:54 p.m.

A Bourbon officer was dispatched to a fight in progress at the tavern.

The officer observed a female standing in the doorway, yelling at other people in the bar.

The officer tried to move the female away.

Her husband allegedly approached the officer.

While the officer talked to the husband, someone threw a beer bottle at the officer.

The officer went to exit the door and the female fell through. As the officer attempted to check on her, the husband allegedly tried to assault him.

When the officer stepped back, the husband and wife ran back inside and left through the back door.

Law enforcement from Crawford County, Cuba, Sullivan and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded.

Officers went into the bar, where the husband and wife had reentered. They attempted to arrest the husband, who began to fight with the officers.

The Bourbon officer pepper sprayed the husband, who stopped fighting.

While authorities placed him in handcuffs, the wife attempted to strike the officers.

Both were arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail.
