County Revenue Hits 2022 High, But 5% Dip From 2021

There was good news and okay news from Crawford County’s latest general revenue sales tax report.

The good news is that the county collected $245,717.27, which was the highest monthly total collected so far in 2022.

The okay news is that it was a 5% dip from last June’s collection of $259,177.08.

After posting two straight months of giant gains over 2021, the county had just its second year-over-year setback.

The collection reflects money that was spent in May.

Crawford County has collected $1,246,068.13 through this point in 2022.

With half the year in the books, the county is on pace to match last year’s $2.5 million collection.

The county’s collection was up 21% in January, 11% in February, down 20% in March, up 36% in April and 21% in May.

With temperatures soaring to record highs, county officials are hoping that the heat will draw tourists to the various campgrounds and liveries.

Last June, the county saw its revenue fall to $191,927.21 after rising to $228,840.27 in June 2020. However, that June coincided with a reopening of the economy after the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders were lifted and enhanced unemployment insurance.
