City Eyes Grants For New Police Department Building

The city of Bourbon is beginning a push for a new police building and possibly a city hall.

During the board’s Feb. 15 meeting, Ward 1 Alderwoman Margie Brine said she and Mayor Dave Lafferty had met with the Meramec Regional Planning Commission to go over what it would take to get a grant that could fund construction.

Brine said they would need an architectural and engineering plan, which the city will soon send out request for qualifications for.

She added that it would be best to seek a grant to build both a police building and a city hall, which would be on the same property.

“It’s best to go for all the money at one time,” Brine said.

The city has explored options for a new building going back more than 10 years.
