Bourbon Searching For Code Enforcement Officer
The city of Bourbon is searching for a code enforcement officer.
City officials and Police Chief Scott Zwetow have discussed the position in the past. The officer will be in charge of enforcing city codes and ordinances, ensuring that residents are maintaining compliance and addressing citizen concerns relating to public nuisance and zoning-related issues.
The position will be part-time, with a schedule of 16 hours per week, and the pay will start at $16.25 per hour.
The officer will conduct on-site inspections of existing residential properties to verify compliance; inspect properties for violations; post warning notices; do follow-ups; enforce illegal signage, inspect vacant residencies and businesses; prepare evidence to support legal action and complete rental occupancy inspections.
Minor building inspections also will be performed when directed.
The officer must have knowledge of relevant zoning, nuisance abatement, property maintenance, building and health and safety codes; knowledge of municipal code enforcement principles and practices; preparing administrative reports; dealing with difficult situations and angry people and skillful in oral and written communications.
