Booming Sales Tax Puts County On Track To Match 2020 Revenue

Though Crawford County’s sales tax took a 2% dip year-over-year, the county had another strong collection in August.

With $286,311.66 in general sales tax revenue brought in last month, the county has totaled nearly $1.9 million this year.

The August total was down from $293,641.99 last year. It’s also the biggest monthly haul of 2021.

If the sales tax averages $200,000 over the next three months, Crawford County will match or possibly exceed last year’s total of $2.4 million.

Sales tax will easily surpass the 2019 total of $2.1 million, which was the first full year the half-cent increase went into effect.

The county has brought in more than $250,000 in sales tax three of the last four months.

The law enforcement and capital improvement sales taxes brought in over $133,300, which was down 8% year-over-year.

The separate taxes have brought in nearly $900,000 for their respective funds.

In 2020, the county collected a little more than $1.1 million.
