The Meramec Area friends of NRA Dinner and Auction will hold its 17th annual event at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall on Sat., Sept. 11 with the theme of “Remembering 9-11-2001.” Through the charity event, the local organization has donated over $50,000 to the Future Farmers of America Shooting Range in Stanton.

An English Country Dance, featuring Hibernia Station, will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church Hall, 119 West Springfield Rd., on Sat., Sept. 5 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost for the event is $5 per person or $20 per family.
According to organizers, there is no experience necessary, no partner required and no age limit to participate in the event.

On Friday, the Sullivan Garden Club presented its annual Citation of Commendation state award to First State Community Bank, 3 East Springfield Rd.
The award is presented once a year by the club and is given to a commercial or industrial firm, organization, public institution, school, library, church or individual in recognition for landscaping and beautification of an area for the enjoyment of all.

The Sullivan HALO organization held a dinner, dance and auction on Saturday evening at the Sullivan Eagles Hall. The event helped raise money for the organization which helps care and find homes for animals in the Sullivan area. The dinner featured many local area restaurants and allowed guests to sample from each business.
The Sullivan Fire Department held their annual monthly open house breakfast on Thursday. Pictured is a view of some of those attending the event. The event is held the first Thursday of every month with donations accepted for the annual Meramec Community Mission Toy Drive.
