The Mini Pops, a music group sponsored by Mrs. Shelly Davis, music teacher, and the Mini Picassos, a group sponsored by Mrs. Tina Sohn, art teacher, went on tour to spread good cheer to local nursing homes and the Sullivan Rotary. Sullivan Masonic Lodge #69, in conjunction with the Masonic Home of Missouri, donated $225 to Strain-Japan School. This money will be utilized to purchase coats, shoes, and other clothing articles for students. Spring Bluff School Students celebrated the end of first semester with a popcorn and soda party. These students volunteer their time to assist elementary teachers and students each day during RtI. RtI (Response to Intervention) is a method of academic intervention used to provide early, systematic assistance to children who are having difficulty learning. RTI seeks to prevent academic failure through early intervention and frequent progress monitoring.
Strain-Japan School was alive with holiday music on Wed., Dec. 7. The music department presented “Dear Santa,” a Christmas musical about Santa’s desperate attempts to arrive safely at everyone’s house on Christmas Eve.

Some of the third and fourth grade boys were set into action separating, repairing, and cleaning donated toys for the poor. Spring Bluff fifth grade student, Ellie Cuneio, won second place, in 5th-6th grade, and received a $10 gift card. Spring Bluff second grade student, Ben Biehl, won third place, in 1st-2nd grade, and received a $5 gift card.
Presenting the winners with their awards is Heather Suering, volunteer firefighter. Both posters will be entered in the state competition, which will be judged in the spring.
