The Geography Bee at St. Anthony School  contained some very difficult and challenging questions, but it took place without a glitch.  The winners from Grades 4-8 were involved in the Geo Bee, with ten students participating. Students were eliminated from the bee depending on whether they could respond correctly to the intriguing questions.

Lisa Christine Bruning (Harmon) of Japan, MO entered into this world as the youngest child of Walter J. Harmon, Jr. and Isabelle M. Harmon (Naro) on the evening of July 24, 1964 in Kirkwood, MO. Lisa was christened into God’s fold on August 16, 1964 at Immaculate Conception Church in Arnold, MO. There she would live to love and grow in the Lord until 1973, when she was moved with her family to Leasburg, MO. [...]

Anna L. Schmidt of Sullian, MO passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the age of 97 years.
Mrs. Schmidt was born in Sullivan, MO on October 9, 1914 to Joseph and Letha (Blankenship) Thurmond. She was a lifelong resident of the Sullivan area and in August of 1934 was married to Hadley A. Schmidt.
Anna was employed several years at the former International Shoe Company in Sullivan and later went to work at Mid-West Shoe [...]

City Council Expected To Vote On Ward Boundary Changes

It’s been some time since the Sullivan City Council has changed the ward boundaries in the City of Sullivan and it appears that the changes may come as soon as Tuesday night, Dec. 6.
The council was scheduled to vote on Bill. No. 3506, which would realign the boundaries in the city provided from the 2010 Census Bureau.

E-Permits Available Mar. 1

Starting Mar. 1, Missourians will be able to buy most hunting and fishing permits at home, using the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) new e-Permits system. The system will allow hunters, anglers and trappers to print permits on regular computer printers and have them in hand immediately.

Shooting Sports Certification Workshop

The next statewide Shooting Sports Leader Certification workshop will be held on Apr. 1-3 at Camp Jo-Ota near Macon, MO.
Registration deadline is Mar. 11.
The Franklin County 4-H Council will cover the registration fee for anyone who wishes to be certified to lead a shooting sports project. Contact the University of Missouri Extension Center, 636-583-5141, for a registration form.

Otis L. Armstrong of Sullivan, MO passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the age of 72 years.

Congratulations to the new eighth grade officers!  The winners of their recent election were: Cole Watson, President; Jacob Dixon, Vice President; Hunter Breece, Secretary; and Caleb Kent, Treasurer.  They will have many responsibilities including four middle school dances, graduation, and the alumni scholarship.
