Cutting a hole atop an ice-covered lake with a chain saw and then jumping into the frigid water does not sound like a lot of fun, but it did turn out to be an educational training session for the Sullivan Fire Protection District firefighters on Wed., Feb. 3, as firefighters trained at the Sullivan City Lake in ice water rescue.

On Valentine’s Day, Sun., Feb. 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., there will be English Country dancing at the Sullivan Catholic Church Hall, Saint Anthony of Padua, 119 W. Springfield Rd. in Sullivan.
Bring comfortable shoes and a snack to share. There is a cost of $5 per person, $20 per family.

Big Changes Coming On I-44 And North Service Rd.

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced that the North Service Rd. at Winsel Creek will be closed beginning Jan. 27, through October.
Major construction on the eastbound and westbound I-44 bridges will require detours on I-44 and the North Service Rd.

Bourbon Man Reported Missing

A 63-year-old Bourbon man has been reported missing to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
According to Donna Hunt, California, her brother Bobby “Bob”  Goodley, 63, was a resident at the former Westwood Care Center, located off Highway N, a half mile south of the Bourbon city limits.
