Meramec Group/KLOGS Provide 12,000 Masks To Local Community

Meramec Group, 338 Ramsey St. and sister company KLOGS/Latitudes, 1000 Independent Drive, this week donated 12,000 face masks to the City of Sullivan along with Franklin and Crawford counties.

It is an effort to protect first responders and city crews during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Jeff Dieckhaus, the Sullivan-based companies also operate a plant in Panyu, China, and during their battle with the virus, Meramec Group was able to send disinfectant to this plant and community. When the virus struck the United States, Meramec Group reached out to their plant and asked them to send over needed face masks for our local community.

“We know we wanted to play a role in helping the community fight this virus,” said Jeffery Dieckhaus, President of Meramec Group.

Dieckhaus reported that the company has been a part of this community since 1952 and they wanted to figure out what was the best way to get the masks into the hands of first responders and health care workers working within the local community.

Thus, Dieckhaus reached out to Franklin County Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker, Crawford County Commissioner District 2 Jared Boast and Sullivan City Administrator J.T. Hardy to assist in the distribution of the 12,000 masks.

“Rather than us going out to help identify those in needs we reached out to these officials to assist us in the donation process insuring the masks would get into the hands of those most in need,” said Dieckhaus. “This has been a coordinated efforts between Meramec Group and KLOGS.”

Dieckhaus reported that they are currently working on obtaining more face masks for the program and have also provided face masks to Belleville Boot Company, a boot manufacturer in Belleville, Illinois, that produces military boots and utilizes footwear soles manufactured by Meramec Group. This business is also an essential operation to the military and Meramec was able to provide face masks for Belleville Boots operations.

Meramec Group is a privately held corporation with roots dating back to 1952 when Harold H. Dieckhaus founded the original sales company. It remains a private, family owned business today. The Meramec Group is headquartered in Sullivan where it maintains a manufacturing plant and its North American sales office. Meramec has earned a worldwide reputation as a leader in integral-skin polyurethane technology.

Dieckhaus stated that he remembers coming into Meramec Group as a young boy and has a real connection with the local community and the employees of the company, many who have reached up to 50 year milestones of employment. The company is very honored to be able to help protect the area and first responders as well as medical personnel.

The Meramec Group sister company KLOGS/Latitudes is currently offering 24 percent off their shows specifically designed for those in the workforce on their feet and on the front lines in the battle against COVID-19.

The shoes provide comfort and support for those working long and endlesss shifts. In addition to the all-day comfort the footwear is also able to be cleaned which is vitally important to these workers.

This sale is effective through April 30 and can purchased at www.KlogsFootwear.com.
