A salon once occupied by longtime stylist Patty Sanders is now home to Stylistic Hair Salon, owned by hairstylist Sandy Wiles who is joined by longtime friend and stylist, Patty Evans.
The facility is located at 230 Elm, Sullivan, and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with evening appointments available by request.

New Look For Sullivan Patrol Vehicles

Sullivan Police will have a new look on the way for their patrol vehicles. The department is going to a traditional all black and white look. The changes will be phased in as vehicles are replaced. This patrol vehicle was changed due to an insurance paint upgrade.

Three Black Males Sought In Home Invasion Woman Held At Gunpoint

Sullivan Police are aggressively pursuing three black male suspects believed to have held a Sullivan woman at gunpoint while they searched her home for another individual, while a three-year-old child slept in the home.
According to Sullivan Police, they were called to the 200 block of Virginia St. early Friday morning at 3:59 a.m. for a reported home invasion.

Fire Alarms Show Increase In 2011 With 1,396

The year 2011 saw the Sullivan Fire Protection District alarms increase from 1,378 in 2010 to 1,396 in 2011, with a drop in the number of house fires, 27-in 2010 to 11-2011.
“We had a very busy year, and observed some decreases in several areas but increases in others,” said Sullivan fire chief, Rich White. “Overall, we had another active year in the district.”

Treis Sentenced For Burglary, Assault And Weapons Charges

Jeremie E. Treis, 35, Leasburg, has been sentenced on three charges in Franklin County in connection with a burglary that occurred in Sullivan, at which time Treis cut a resident with  a knife.
Treis was sentenced to four years in prison for the count of burglary in the second degree, four years on the count of assault in the second degree, and three years on the count of unlawful use of a weapon.

Pea Ridge Mine Has New Owners

The future of the Pea Ridge Mine, Washington County, may be even more of a reality of reopening following actions that took place this week.
In a joint venture, MFC Industrial, LTD., a Canadian Global Supply Chain Company, along with Alberici Group, Inc., St. Louis, purchased the mine for $13 million, this week.
