Meramec Valley Strutters Turkey Hunting Clinic

On Mar. 20, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Missouri Department of Conservation and Sullivan Fire Department will host a Youth Turkey Hunting Clinic.
The events will begin at the new Sullivan Firehouse training room at 9 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. Youth ages 11-15 years old who have taken a Hunter Education Course will be eligible to attend this program. All participants will need to be accompanied by a parent [...]

St. Clair Stops Sullivan In District Semifinals

A three-peat was not to be had.
For the first time since 2007, the Lady Eagles will sit out the state playoffs after losing to St. Clair, 48-34, in the Class 4 District 4 tournament semifinals on Wednesday night.

For three quarters, Union was poised for an upset.
The fifth-seeded Lady Wildcats led 30-28 over the defending district champions, but Sullivan ended the game on an 8-0 run to win 44-36 and shoot past Union to the semifinals of the Class 4 District 4 tournament.

Four Wrestlers Win AAU Medals at State

Four wrestlers won medals at the AAU state wrestling meet at Lafayette High School on Sunday.
Kobie Blankenship was a gold medalist in the 60-pound division.
Dylan Godfried won silver in the 55-pound division.
Christopher Fongemie was a silver medalist in the 75-pound division.
Alex Crooks won silver in the 160-pound division.

Led by Carissa Richardson’s 22 points and a 16-0 run to start the game, Sullivan won easy over Union on Thursday night, 50-24.
For Sullivan, it was their first conference win of the season after being dealt tough losses against Pacific, St. James and Hermann.
The Lady Eagles came out firing, making six of their first seven shots.

Hunter Education Courses, New Registration Procedure

The Missouri Dept. of Conservation has a new registration process for Hunter Education courses in the St. Louis and Central Regions. Instead of calling a phone number and signing up for a course, students must now go online and register by way of the Internet.
This new procedure is not statewide yet and is only being tested in two regions. The St. Louis Region covers eight counties including Crawford, Washington, Franklin [...]

Sullivan Advances Past Union in District 4 Tourney

ST. CLAIR — Minutes ago, the Lady Eagles defeated Union 44-36 in the first round of the Class 4 District 4 tournament.
Sullivan will play against No. 1 seed and the host St. Clair on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The winner plays for the championship on Friday night.
Carissa Richardson had 22 points and 12 rebounds. Full details of this week’s district tournament will be available in the Mar. 3 issue of the Independent News.

Bourbon will try to snap their losing streak this week when they host Cuba for Homecoming. The Warhawks have not won since defeating Belle on Jan. 30. This will be just their third home of the season.

He will be graduating this June from Radford High School, Honolulu, HI. He received honors for All-State defensive tackle and All-State offensive guard. Wright received awards for All-Conference defensive tackle and first team All-Conference offensive guard.
