Dear Editor,
The community of Sullivan should take great pride in the work of the charitable organizations and churches that have taken an active part in serving the citizens of the Sullivan area. They are helping to build a vibrant city.
The most affluent communities of the region have strong charitable bases which have existed for many years. When charitable organizations and churches take actions which prevent homelessness for individuals or families that have experienced a crisis [...]
Dear Editor:I’d like to let the community know about a fantastic opportunity for Mercy patients—both those who see a Mercy physician today, and those who choose a Mercy physician in the future. Mercy has introduced MyMercy, an online tool that allows patients to take an active role in their healthcare.MyMercy allows patients to view their health history and test results, schedule doctor’s appointments, request medication refills, send and receive messages with their physicians and manage [...]
Dear Editor,
Whatever happened to the Biblical quote of: “Love your Neighbor,” Feed the Hungry” and “Help the Needy”?
I have a friend who is an unemployed mother of three. Their water was turned off for three weeks because she couldn’t pay the bill.
Since she has no car and no phone, I’ve been driving her job hunting and making phone calls for her.
I have called more than a dozen churches in the Sullivan area and was told [...]

This past week, the Sullivan Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand reopening of the Highway 185 Garage at their new location on Highway 185 South.
What is troubling to me, with this grand celebration, was just how it took place.
The business, owned by Jack Sohn, was located just south of the Interstate 44 East overpass and next to the South Service Rd. for over 31 years. Over [...]
Dear Editor,
I am writing concerning this year’s Gospel Night at the fairgrounds. I believe it’s the best we have ever had in our community, and it showed because of the huge crowd.
The entertainment was awesome. I have been going for three years now and it has gotten bigger and better each year.
Kevin Beckett, Glen Carter, the Sullivan Cultural Grant Committee, the Meramec Community Fair Board along with the Ministerial Alliance and all the churches and [...]

Dear Editor,
We would like to take this opportunity to recognize everyone involved with the Sullivan Community Fair “Gospel Night.”
We appreciate the Sullivan Cultural Grant Committee. This event could not happen without their support and encouragement. We appreciate Joe Thurmond and the City of Sullivan Electrical Department. No one can possibly understand how much hard work and personnel effort it took to make this event happen, unless you were there. And the Sullivan Park Department for [...]
Dear Sullivan Community,
Did you rock to the Van-Dells this March? Were you in awe of the St. Louis Ballet that came in 2006? What piece carried you away by the St. Louis Symphony’s string quartet or brass quartet? How much reminiscing did you do when the Liverpool Legends Beatles Tribute Band came to town? Was your foot tapping to the SteelDrivers? Were you enthralled by the performance of Cornet Chop Suey?
And the most important question [...]

Let’s Recycle!
Letter to the Editor:
Do you have 10 minutes (or less) per week for the betterment and enrichment of your community and your planet? That is the amount of time it takes to sort your recyclables. About 10 brief minutes each week! Who can’t eke out that much time for such a good cause?
Please consider the following facts before deciding against recycling in your household:
* An aluminum can that is thrown away will still be [...]
