7 & 8 Mardi Gras 1 Ashes1Before the ushering in the liturgical season of Lent, students celebrated Mardi Gras (also known as “Fat Tuesday”), with a special shirt day, by wearing beads and having a parade, complete with shoebox floats! Our  Mardi Gras King and Queen led the parade around the gym, enjoying music and photo ops, and stopping off for a sweet treat. At the end of the parade, students gathered to bury the Alleluia. During the next several weeks, they will not say or sing Alleluia to be respectful of the solemness of the season. On Ash Wednesday, they received ashes on their foreheads at Mass, to remind them to turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.
